Hello, I'm Dr. McMinn at Idaho Orthodontics.
Today, we’re adjusting the wires for Leon Joe to make her smile even better than it already is.

We’re placing a slightly stiffer wire, which will apply the right amount of pressure to move the teeth into their ideal positions.

Overall, things are looking great. It’s just these two teeth over here—we need to bring them down a bit more.
So, you may feel a little more pressure on this side than on the right side.

If the teeth are exactly where we want them, we’ll stabilize them for a few weeks to hold that position.
If not, we’ll make another small adjustment next time.

Quick Wire Adjustment for Layton Jo With Dr. McMinn

What happens during a braces adjustment at Idaho Orthodontics?
During a braces adjustment, we may change or tighten the wires on your braces so they can continue moving your teeth into better alignment. Sometimes we use a slightly stiffer wire to keep your treatment progressing toward the ideal smile and bite.
Why do you switch to stiffer wires during treatment?
As treatment goes on and the teeth start to straighten, we often switch to a slightly stronger wire. This allows us to fine-tune tooth positions and make more precise movements, like bringing certain teeth down or rotating them into the ideal spot.
Is it normal to feel more pressure on one side after an adjustment?
Yes. If we’re focusing on specific teeth—like bringing a couple of teeth down—you might feel more pressure on that side compared to the other. Mild soreness or pressure for a few days after an adjustment is common and usually fades as your teeth adapt.
What does it mean when you “stabilize” the teeth?
Once your teeth are right where we want them, we may keep the same wire in place for a few weeks to let them stabilize. This helps your teeth and supporting bone hold that new position before we make any final tweaks or move on to retainers at the end of treatment.
