I’m going to give you three tips to get the best results from your Invisalign—and trust me, the last one is crucial.

1. Clean your aligners regularly.
Brush your teeth and your Invisalign trays every time you take them out to eat. After eating, brush again before you put them back in.

2. Only drink water while wearing your aligners.
No soda, no coffee, and definitely nothing sugary—it can stain your trays and lead to cavities.

3. Wear them 22 hours a day.
That means all day, every day—unless you're eating or drinking something besides water. If you don't wear them enough, you won’t get results... and you’ll be stuck with me forever. Nobody wants that.

I’m going to give you three tips on how to get the best results from your Invisalign—and the last one is crucial for it to work at all.

Tip #1: Clean your aligners regularly.
Brush your teeth and brush your Invisalign aligners every time you take them out to eat. After you’re done eating, brush your teeth and your trays before putting them back in.

Tip #2: Only drink water with your aligners in.
You shouldn’t eat or drink anything besides water while your Invisalign is in. Don’t drink coffee, soda, or anything with sugar in it. Those drinks can cause cavities and can stain your trays.

Tip #3: Wear them 22 hours a day.
That means you’re wearing your aligners all the time, unless you’re eating or drinking anything other than water. If you stick with that, you’ll be in good shape.

Otherwise… you’re just going to be stuck with me forever—and nobody wants that.

Crucial Invisalign tip!

How often should I clean my Invisalign aligners?
You should clean your aligners every time you take them out to eat. Rinse and gently brush your teeth and trays before putting them back in. This helps prevent bacteria buildup, bad breath, and staining, and keeps your teeth healthy throughout treatment.
What can I drink while wearing Invisalign?
The only safe drink while your aligners are in is plain water. Anything else—like coffee, tea, soda, sports drinks, or anything sugary—can stain the trays and increase your risk of cavities, since the liquid can get trapped under the aligners against your teeth.
Why do I need to wear Invisalign 22 hours a day?
Invisalign is designed to move your teeth with constant, gentle pressure. If you don’t wear your aligners at least 22 hours per day, your teeth won’t track properly with the plan, treatment can slow down or backtrack, and trays may stop fitting the way they should.
What happens if I don’t follow the Invisalign instructions closely?
If you're not cleaning your aligners, only drinking water with them in, or wearing them enough hours each day, you risk delayed or incomplete results, aligners that don't fit well, and cavities or staining. Following the guidelines keeps your treatment on time, effective, and comfortable—and helps you avoid being "stuck" in treatment longer than necessary.
